Ice Lakes, Denmark
This is an ongoing body of work, something I come back to over time. It sits within my personal work — my draw to nature, the elements, and the seasons.
I've always been pulled toward extremes. These images came from time spent around partially frozen lakes in Denmark, often in well below freezing conditions. I'm usually down low, close to the surface, working with what's there. Thin ice, camera and arms in awkward positions, catching reflections of small plants at the water's edge.
The details change in ways that are easy to miss. The smallest things shift and become something else entirely once the ice forms around them. It can feel harsh out there — but at the same time, very quiet. Almost meditative. I slow down, and within that, I notice more.
For me, it feels like stepping into a different world for a moment. One that's easy to miss unless you stop and really look.
